162. You are not defined by your mistakes! God has new mercies for us everyday!!
Let me just start by saying you are NOT your mistakes. One bad situation or misstep in your walk with the Lord does not define your whole walk. And even if you have made this said blunder over and over, it doesn’t determine your worth or growth. Every day is a new day. You have a chance to grow and receive new mercies every morning- Thank you Jesus! I have had many moments where I have felt like the biggest failure and honestly alot of those times I let the words of others and the negative thoughts in my head, keep me from moving forward and walking in the grace that only comes form Jesus. Some of these things kept me frozen and stuck for so long and I don’t want that for you friend!!
Today I came across a facebook memory-
This is what it read… 'Had a bit of a rough time with the boys at the doc this morning…sometimes I feel like such a failure as a mom! Need some encouragement and prayers please’
I’m here to tell you to fight the urge to partner with those thoughts. I was given a quote from a friend on this thread- “Don’t let a bad day make you feel like you have a bad life’ - so here I am sharing that with you. 11 years after the fact but here it is. For those of you who are feeling lost, alone, trapped in your own negative thought process, angry at where you are in life, frustrated that you keep circling your same quote’ issues’, feeling purposeless and not sure how to move forward… I see you and I’m here for you!
First- remember that God’s mercies are new every morning-
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23
Second- it’s a choice friend. What are you going to do with this new day? How are you going to respond(instead of react) how are you going to spend your time? What things are you going to prioritize?
Third- Let’s learn to take our thoughts captive- use God’s word as a sword and slice the enemies lame lies into smitherings!! You are strong and capable and are not defined by mistakes. You are not supposed to stay stuck. You are more powerful than any negativity that comes into your mind. When you choose to co labor with God and allow His presence to renew and refresh you, you can get rid of those negative thoughts and replace them with God’s goodness.
When you do that you can be free from guilt, shame, regret, fear, people pleasing, perfectionism, and conflicting thoughts…all the things friend!
