Matthew 5:3-4
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted.
Being poor in spirit isn't referring to being without. Jesus is talking about recognizing our spiritual poverty and our need for God. When we submit to Him and release our lives to Him we will have access to His kingdom!! Boom!
In the same way, those who mourn, isn't talking about loss or tragedy. This is about our sorrow of repentance. Coming to God with a repentant heart and being sorry for grieving the Holy Spirit through our actions.
Thankfully Jesus covers us so we don't always have to get this right!! But how great is it that when we come to Him with repentance, acknowledging our need for Him, then He offers us comfort and a home :)
